Cadihn Ledger
Privacy notice
This notice says what we collect, why, who else sees it and how long we keep it. It is short because we collect very little.
Your ledger never reaches us
The subscriptions you enter, their amounts, cycles and renewal dates are stored in your own browser, in local storage on your device. They are not sent to our server, we cannot read them, and they are not part of any account. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and we would not be able to restore them.
What we do collect
One thing: an email address, and only if you ask for the letters. With it we record the date and time, the internet address the request came from, the page the form was on, the version of the consent text and which letters you chose. Our web host also logs the internet address of every visitor as ordinary security logging, as web hosts do.
We run no advertising trackers, no cross-site analytics and no cookies for marketing. If you only read the pages and never subscribe, we do not learn who you are.
Why we use it
To send the letters you asked for, and nothing else. We do not profile, segment or score anybody, and we do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone.
Who else sees it
Our web host stores the site and its logs. The letters and the confirmation message are delivered through Amazon Simple Email Service, which processes the message and the address for the sole purpose of delivering it, on our instructions. Neither uses it for any purpose of its own. Nobody else is involved.
Fonts
The typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google when a page loads. No other third party receives anything. The application code itself is served from this site, not from a public code network.
Confirmed opt-in, and what happens if you do not confirm
An address joins the list only after the link in the confirmation message is opened. If it is not opened within 48 hours the link stops working, and if it is not opened at all the pending record is deleted after seven days. Nothing is sent to an unconfirmed address beyond that single confirmation message.
How long we keep it
For as long as you want the letters. When you unsubscribe, the record is deleted. The only thing that outlives it is the suppression list, which exists so that mail is never sent again to an address that bounced or complained — that is a list of addresses not to write to, and it is kept for exactly that reason.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to letters@cadihn.org. We answer within thirty days and we do not charge. Unsubscribing is faster than asking: the link in every letter deletes the record immediately.
Children
This is a tool for managing one's own spending. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this notice changes, the new version is published here with its date. The consent text carries its own version, and it is recorded with your subscription, so it is always possible to say which text you agreed to.
